Beast of the Wild

As she approached the wilderness
cool wind brushing through her hair
the fierce brown cat lay in the depth
the creaky machaan soothed her scared senses
she rushed into the woody hotel
each step ahead resounded to the fearsome approach
up in a corner she glanced to the little book store
she ascended towards it with woody smoke in her head
Books of man-eaters and brave men were stacked neatly
a chill running through her veins

is this what they fear?
why do we come to see a cruel beast?
at dawn we went trekking up the hill
to the caves on the other side
a tiger stays in there says the village man
had a hearty sausage and omelette
with fresh scars on my leg
the safari rode into the thicket
it is his land
where we are mere guests
the monkeys chatter, the peacock dances
The King is nearby
as we retreat losing hope we see
the majestic beast upon the hill
It is his home
anyone who destroys it is an enemy
He is the King of the Jungle
